Thinking of Getting Admission in BITSAT Engineering Colleges - Here are Top Do's and Don'ts to Prepare for BITSAT Entrance Test




BITSAT is one of the most sought after engineering entrances of the country. BITS entrance exam is the only ticket that can give you an entry into the premier institute of Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. The exam is quite different from other entrances as it is conducted only in online mode. Moreover, unlike other national exams like the IIT JEE, BITSAT not only tests the knowledge of subjects, but it assesses the entire personality of aspirants since it has sections on logical reasoning and English proficiency.

The exam has become all the more challenging considering the mounting competition. With the BITSAT date approaching all too quickly now, the thought of competing with lakhs of candidates starts taking a toll on the life of candidates. It is time for the students to brush up their skills instead of fretting over what and how to study.

Top dos:

  • Refer NCERTs: One cannot undermine the importance of NCERTs. It is important to consult the NCERTs as they cover the entire syllabus of BITSAT. Moreover, at times students might get lucky to get some direct questions from NCERT textbooks.
  • Prepare Revision Notes: Students are advised to keep jotting down the important facts and formulae separately so that they can revise them again. This is crucial so that you don’t miss out the important facts and keep revising them again and again without wasting much time.
  • Cover the entire syllabus: Selective study won’t be a very good option as the examiner might pick up question from any topic. Hence, it is important to cover the complete syllabus of BITSAT.
  • Plan meticulously: Planning is of utmost importance. It is not possible to crack such entrances without planning out a proper study schedule. Hence, students are advised to chalk out a plan of the topics they intend to cover in a particular day.  
  • Mock Tests: The exclusivity of BITSAT lies in the fact that it is an online examination. Hence, students are advised to get acquainted with the online exam. Aspirants must practice several mock tests on the system so that they don’t face any issue on the final day.
  • Strategize: Whether it is a question of preparation or of attempting the paper on the final day, you need to have a strategy so as to be successful. Focus on your weak areas. But emphasize more on your strong portions so as to fetch maximum scores.
  • Focus on all five areas: Besides Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, BITSAT has sections on Logical reasoning and English proficiency too. Hence, 
  • Problem Solving skills: questions asked in BITS exam are quite application based. Hence, only those with good problem solving skills can tackle them with ease.
  • Recreation: Take small breaks after covering certain portion of syllabus. Students must also practice some yoga and meditation as it helps in improving the concentration. 
  • Patience: Getting frustrated and depressed while preparing for entrances like BITSAT is quite normal. But students must avoid it. Patience is the key to success. Just work hard without worrying about results. 
  • Positive attitude: Only those who are optimistic can crack BITS entrance exam with ease. Doubting your caliber can have a negative impact on your performance.

Top Don’ts:

  • Discussion with peers: Aspirants may discuss their study related doubts with peers. But any kind of discussion related to the completion of syllabus or revision must be avoided. Such discussions can cause anxiety.
  • Selective study: A loss of single mark in an entrance like BITSATcan prove to be costly. Hence, students must cover the entire syllabus.
  • Do not cram: BITSAT tests your analytical and problem solving skills and hence it is important to understand the concepts. Cramming of facts must be avoided.  
  • Do not skip meals: The last day is not meant for covering some new topic. Accept the fact that the preparation time is over. These 24 hours are just for brushing up the skills. Skipping meals can have a negative impact on your health and you cannot dare to take a risk at this crucial juncture. Have balanced light meals so that you don’t feel sleepy.
  • Don’t panic: Majority of the students get panicky when they are not able to attempt questions. This must be avoided as you are more likely to commit mistakes in such a situation.
  • Don’t lose focus: Your aim should be to qualify BITSAT by hook or by crook. You must not lose your focus and get carried away by the talks of others. Focus on your goal and try to achieve it!
BITS entrance exam is a hard nut to crack but with a bit of focus and determination you can cross this hurdle with ease.
