UPSC CMS Exam 2015 Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Marking Scheme and Selection Procedure




UPSC conducts CMS Combined Medical Service Examination every year for recruitment of MBBS candidates on various posts in Government services. Here is complete selection procedure, examination pattern, marking scheme and full syllabus for CMS exam 2015. Candidates can prepare according to syllabus and exam pattern to crack CMS exam successfully.

Selection Procedure for CMS 2015

  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of Computer Based Examination followed by Personality Test.
  • Computer Based Examination carries 500 marks in Personality Test is for 100 marks.
  • Only candidates who qualify Computer Based Test shall be invited for Personality Test.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme for CMS 2015 Computer Based Examination:

  • Computer Base Examination contains two Papers
  • Paper I for Total 250 Marks and 120 Questions
    (a). General Ability: 30 Questions
    (b). General Medicine: 70 Questions
    (c). Pediatricians: 20 Questions 
  • Paper II for Total 250 Marks and 120 Questions
    (a). Surgery: 40 Questions
    (b). Gynaecology Obstetrics: 40 Questions
    (c). Preventive and Social Medicine: 40 Questions 
  • Both papers will be completely of objective (multiple choice questions) type.
  • The question paper will be set in English only.
  • There will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers. 
  • 1/3rd marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

PERSONALITY TEST - (100 marks):

Candidates who qualify in the Computer based examination will be called for Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The Interview/ Personality Test will carry 100 marks. The interview for Personality Test will be intended to serve as a supplement to the Computer based examination for testing the General Knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study and also in the nature of a personality test to assess the candidate's intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgment and alertness of mind, ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capability for leadership.
