UPSC ESE- IES Exam Pattern Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil 2015 Engineering Service Examination

UPSC Union Public Service Commission is conducting Engineering Service Examination 2015 for Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Below is selection procedure and complete examination pattern for all engineering streams.

Selection Procedure: Examination will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase- I: The written Examination will comprise two sections-Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
  • Phase- II: Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.

Exam Pattern for Civil Engineering:

  • Section I- Objective Papers
    • General Ability Test {(Part A: General English)  (Part B: General Studies)} in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Civil Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Civil Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
  • Section II- Conventional Papers
    • Civil Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
    • Civil Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
  • Total 1000 Marks.
 

Exam Pattern for Mechanical Engineering:

  • Section I- Objective Papers
    • General Ability Test {(Part A: General English)  (Part B: General Studies)} in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Mechanical Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Mechanical Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
  • Section II- Conventional Papers
    • Mechanical Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
    • Mechanical Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
  • Total 1000 Marks.

Exam Pattern for Electrical Engineering:

  • Section I- Objective Papers
    • General Ability Test {(Part A: General English)  (Part B: General Studies)} in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Electrical Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Electrical Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
  • Section II- Conventional Papers
    • Electrical Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
    • Electrical Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
  • Total 1000 Marks.

Exam Pattern for Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering:

  • Section I- Objective Papers
    • General Ability Test {(Part A: General English)  (Part B: General Studies)} in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 200 Marks.
  • Section II- Conventional Papers
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Paper- I in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Paper- II in 2 Hours for Total 300 Marks.
  • Total 1000 Marks.

Important Instructions for Candidates: 

  •  In the Personality Test special attention will be paid to assessing the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.
  • Conventional papers must be answered in English. Question papers will be set in English only.
