Here is mathematical trick to multiply any two number whose difference is 4. Multiplying Any Two Numbers Whose Difference is 4

Follow steps below:

1. Find the number midway between two numbers. (Eg. 24 * 28. Number midway between 24 and 28 is 26).
2. Square this number. (26 * 26 = 676)
3. Now subtract 4 and this is your answer. (676 - 4 = 672, 24 * 28 = 676)

Follow examples below to understand it better:

Eg. 1: 

49 *53
Step -1 => Number between 49 and 53 is 51.
Step -2 => 51 * 51 = 2601
Step -3 => 2601 - 4 = 2597
Hence 49 * 53 = 2597. (Ans)

Eg. 2: 

17 * 21
Step -1 => Number between 17 and 21 is 19.
Step -2 => 19 * 19 = 361
Step -3 => 361 - 4 = 357
Hence 17 * 21 = 357. (Ans)
