Find Square of Any Two Digit Number in Seconds - Mathematics Shortcuts and Tricks

Here is mathematical trick to square any 2 digit number without the help of pen/ pencil in few seconds. Shortcut tricks are very helpful for fast calculations in competitive exams as time allotted is too less for lengthy calculations. So shortcut tricks helps us to solve questions is very less time hence improving chances of getting good score and higher rank in merit.

Square Any Two Digit Number in Seconds

For a squaring a number which ends with 5, follow link below:

• Shortcut trick to square any number that ends with 5.

For any other two digit number follow steps below:

1. First look for the nearest 10 boundary of number (like for 48 its 50)
2. As we went two up so write a number two below this number. ( number two below 48 is 46)
3. Now multiply 46 to 50. (46 * 50 = 2300). This is our answer 1.
4. As 48 is 2 number away from 50 so find square of 2 = 4. This is our answer 2.
5. Now add answer 1 and answer 2. 2300 + 4 = 2304. This is our final answer.

Follow examples below to understand it better:

Eg. 1: 

(24)²
Step -1 => 20 is nearest number.
Step -2 => As we move down by 4 numbers so 4 number above 24 is 28.
Step -3 => 28 * 20 = 560 (Answer 1)
Step -4 => As 24 is 4 numbers away from 20. So square of 4 = 16. (Answer 2).
Step -5 =>Now Answer 1 + Answer 2 = 560 + 16 = 576.

Hence (24)² = 576. (Ans)

Eg. 2: 

(57)²
Step -1 => 60 is nearest number.
Step -2 => As we move up by 3 numbers so 3 number below 57 is 54.
Step -3 => 54 * 60 = 3240 (Answer 1)
Step -4 => As 57 is 3 numbers away from 60. So square of 3 = 9. (Answer 2).
Step -5 =>Now Answer 1 + Answer 2 = 3240 + 9 = 3249

Hence (57)² = 3249. (Ans)
