Q.1. 10 men can complete a work in 10 days whereas it takes 12 women to finish it in 10 days. If 15 men and 6 women undertake to complete the work, how many days they would take to complete it?

A) 5 days
B) 7 days
C) 8 days
D) 9 days`

As 10 men can complete work in 10 days, 1 man's 1 day work = 1/100
1 woman's 1 day work = 1/ 120.
(15 men + 6 women)'s 1 day work = 15/100 + 6/120 = 1/5
Hence they can complete the work in 5 days.

Q.2. A and B can do a piece of working 45 and 40 days respectively. They began the work together, but A leaves after some days and B finished the remaining work in 21 days. After how many days did A leave?

A) 6 days
B) 9 days
C) 10 days
D) 13 days

A's 1 day's work = 1/45
B's 1 day's work = 1/40
Work done by B in 21 days = 21/40
Remaining work = 1 - (21/40) = 19/40
A and B can finish work working together in (45 x 40)/ (45 + 40) = 360/19 days
No of days required by A and B to finish 19 / 40 work = (360/19) x (19/40) = 9 days.

Q.3. A certain number of men complete a piece of work in 60 day. If there were 8 men more the work could be finished in 10 days less. How many men were originally there?

M men can complete a work in 60 days so 1 man's 1 day work = 1/60M

1 women's 1 day work = 1/ (44 x 2)
1 boy's 1 day work = 1 / (44 x 3)

So they will complete the work in 24 days.

Boy's Share out of 400 = 400 x (3/24) = Rs. 50
