Gate 2018 Examination 

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a graduate level examination jointly organized by IISc (Indian Institute of Science), Bangalore and seven IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). Every year one of the organizing institute takes responsibility for conducting the examination.

IIT Guwahati is the organizing institute for GATE 2018. The examination is scheduled to take place on 3,4,10,11 February 2018. The examination will be purely computer-based. And the complete registration process will be in online mode.  Gate 2018 result will be declared on  17th March 2018 by IIT Guwahati.

By this examination, under graduate candidates undertake postgraduate degree ( master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and doctoral program in relevant branches of science.) from the prestigious central government supported institutes.

How to Register for Gate 2018


  • The registration procedure for gate 2018 will be completely online. There will be no sending of any form of document to any of the concerning institute.
  • The Complete registration process will take place on Gate official portal GOAPS i.e. on GATE Online Application Processing System.
  • A candidate needs to register first on GOAPS using a valid email address and mobile number. All the major communication takes place through the email address and mobile number so kindly use your personal number and email address. Also, strictly never use one email address for more than one registration, it is against the rules.
  • An Enrollment ID and Password will be provided to each registered candidate on their registered email address.
  • Login to GOAPS and start filling your registration form.
  • Carefully read all the instructions first.
  • Fill all details and provide all the required documents as per norms.
  • Choose and pay the examination fee via electronic payment mode

For examination centres in India

  • Examination fee for female candidates - ₹ 750
  • SC/ST/PwD candidates - ₹ 750 
  • All other candidates - ₹ 1500

For examination centres in foreign countries (All candidates)

  • Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, and Kathmandu - US$ 50
  • Dubai and Singapore - US$ 100

The application fee does not include any other service charges, processing fees and any other charges by your bank.
The registration window for gate 2018 examination is from 1 September to 9 October 2017. Earlier the closing date was 5 October in the datesheet which was extended later on.

How to Download Admit Card for Gate 2018

Once a candidate is finished with the payment procedure he/she can check their registration status by logging into their dashboard through GOAPS portal and check their registration status.

The admit card for Gate 2018 will be available to download from 5 January 2018 on GOAPS. To get access to gate 2018 admit card candidates have to login to GOAPS and they will get the link to download the admit card right in the dashboard.

I need Gate 2018 Admit card to appear in the examination, Right?

No along with your print out of your admit card you need original and valid photo ID proof (No photocopy, scanned copy or expired document). In the case of using aadhar card as ID proof, your photo and signature should be same as on the admit card.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ( NEET ) UG test was conducted by CBSE on 05- 05- 2013 across all India for admission to various medical colleges.
