TEHRI DAM
  • Tehri Dam is located in Tehri in Uttrakhand, India. 
  • It is the Tallest Dam in India and World. Its height is 260 meters. 
  • It is a multipurpose rock dam built on Bhagirathi (Tributary of River Ganga)
  • Its capacity to generate hydroelectricity is 1000 MW



BHAKHRA DAM

  • Bhakhra Dam is situated in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.

HIRAKUD DAM
  • It is built on Mahanadi River in Odissa.

  • Behind the Dam there is a Hirakud Reservoir that extends to 55 Km.
  • Capacity 347.5 MW



NAGARJUN SAGAR DAM

  • It is built on Krishna River, it shares the boundary of two Indian States between Nalgonda District in Telangana and Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Its Foundation Stone was laid by Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. 
  • Its construction tenure was 12 years, from 1955 to 1967.
  • It creates Nagarjun Sagar Reservoir.
  • It has 26 Flood Gates.
  • Capacity 816 MW.

SARDAR SAROVAR DAM

  • It is a gravity Dam made on river Narmada, in Navagam in Gujrat India.
  • It is named to honor Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
  • Capacity 1450 MW.



MULLAPERIYAR DAM

  • It is a masonry gravity dam on the Periyar River in the Indian state of Kerala.
  • It is located on the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats in Thekkady, Idukki District of Kerala, South India.
  • The Periyar National Park in Thekkady is located around the dam's reservoir.



TUNGABHADRA DAM

  • It is constructed across the Tungabhadra river, a Tributary of Krishna River in Karnataka.
  • It is located in Ballari District of Karnataka.
  • It creates Tungabhadra Reservoir.



THE SRISAILAM DAM

  • It is constructed on Krishna river in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Its location is near Srisailam temple.
  • It creates Srisailam Reservoir.
  • Capacity 1070 MW.


INDIRASAGAR DAM

  • The Indirasagar Dam is a multipurpose project on the Narmada River at  Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh in India.
  • It creates Indirasagar Reservoir.
  • Capacity 1000 MW.



THE IDUKKI DAM

  • It is constructed on Periyar River, in Kerla.
  • It is concrete, double curvature parabolic and thin arc dam.
  • It is situated between a narrow gorge between granite hills Kuravan and Kuravathi in Kerla.
  • Capacity 780 MW.
