Joint Entrance Examination or the JEE Main 2015 exam is the first step towards the prestigious IITs. The JEE Main is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the students seeking admission into IITs, NITs and institutions participating through CSAB Counseling. JEE Main 2015 Eligibility Criteria- Age limit, Educational Qualification & Other Criteria
The Central Board of Secondary Education which conducts the JEE Main 2015 examination has made certain changes in the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2015 exams. The detailed eligibility criteria are as under:
Age Limit
- The upper age limit for JEE Main 2015 exam is 25 years as on 1 October 2015.
- There is an age relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST and PWD Candidates
Note: Date of Birth as recorded in the class 10 certificate will only be considered for further procedure.
Year of Passing the Qualifying Examination
- Only those candidates who have successfully qualified their class 12 or equivalent exams in 2013 and 2014 are eligible to appear in the JEE Main 2015 examination.
- Students must have studied at least five subjects in Class XII or qualifying examination. Those students who have just studied 4 subjects in their class 12 board are not eligible for JEE Main.
Number of Attempts Allowed
A maximum of three attempts are allowed for JEE Main Examination. Anyhow, the number of attempts and age limit for the states of Maharashtra, Nagaland and Odisha remain same as per their past papers.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs
The admission criteria are based on All India Rank along with subject combination for admission to NITs, IIITs and other institutes participating through Central Counseling Board. The subject combinations required for admission to B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch./B.Planning courses in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs are as below:
- A candidate must have studied Language, Physics and Mathematics as their 1st, 2nd& 3rd subjects along with any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational Subject) as their 4thone. The last subject can be any other subject.
- The minimum percentage required is 45% for general category and 40% in case of candidates from reserved categories.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Other Institutions
The policy/criteria explained above may also be adopted by other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and participating institutes.
Note: States are allowed to set their own eligibility criteria and prepare separate rank lists for admission to colleges affiliated to them.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2015
- Only those students who have qualified the JEE Main 2015 exam are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2015 exam.
- Only Top 1, 50,000 candidates across JEE Main Merit List of various categories will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2015 exam.
- Those students who have appeared in IIT JEE 2013 examination cannot take the JEE Advanced 2015 exam.
