Full form of CSE -- Civil Service Examination

 


Civil Service Examination is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for the recruitment to the IAS ( India Administrative Services), IFS (Indian Foreign Services), IPS (Indian Police Services), IRS (Indian Revenue Services) and various govt services. This examination is considered as one of the toughest examination carried out in three phases. The whole precess takes around one full year from notification to final result.
  1. Preliminary Examination:- Preliminary examination is conducted in the month of July/August every year. Examination consists of two objective type (multiple choice questions) papers i) General Studies Papers- I for 200 marks, ii) General Studies Paper- II CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) for 200 Marks. Candidates qualified in preliminary examination are allowed to sit in CSE Main and Interview.

  2. CSE Main:- This is the mian test held in Nov/Dec after CSE preliminary. In CSE Main there are total 9 papers. One paper on any Indian language (out of any 18 languages included in VIIIth schedule of Constitution) for 300 marks and one paper on English for 300 marks are only for qualifying purpose. Other 7 papers include a paper on essay for 200 Marks, two papers on General Studies for 600 Marks (300 Marks each) and 4 papers on any two selected subjects for total 1200 Marks (300 Marks each). Thus total 2000 (200+600+1200) Marks for CSE Main.

  3. Interview:- After CSE Main interview is conducted and given weight-age of 300 marks. So final selection is on basis of merit of 2000 marks in CSE Main and 300 marks in Interview.
